Presenter Bio
Susan A. Storti, Ph.D., RN, CARN-AP, currently serves as the project director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse Blending Research and Practice contract and is the former director of the Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England located at Brown University's Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies. She holds adjunct faculty positions at Rhode Island College and the University of Nevada, and is a professor at Roger Williams Hospital Nursing Center for Practice and Education, a teaching and research affiliate of the Boston University School of Medicine.
During the past six years, Dr. Storti has worked closely with the Veteran Affairs Medical Center, the Vet Center, the Rhode Island National Guard, and many community organizations in the creation of the Rhode Island Blueprint and the subsequent development of the Veterans Task Force of Rhode Island. This initiative has received national recognition as a model program by the Department of Defense and is currently being replicated in other states. Most recently, Dr. Storti was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal from the United States Army and the Rhode Island National Guard.
Dr. Storti received her Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Nursing, and her research focuses on stigma associated with addictions and mental health and its effect on access to and delivery of health care.
